A home inventory is simply a detailed listing of your personal property. A written list, photographs, and videos are all combined in a portfolio and DVDs with descriptions, and values to provide assistance in the event you need to file an insurance claim.
This is something that you can do for yourself. However, having your home inventoried by a third party lends credibility to show that your claim is accurate. Also, the idea of doing your own inventory may seem like an easy task at first, but many people either never get around to it or simply find it too daunting and never complete it.
